Spinal and extremity manipulation

Used across multiple disciplines and professions, this quick thrust technique applied in combination with other movements is proven to show excellent results in short periods of time.

What is spinal manipulation?

Manipulation involves a therapist generating a “small but quick movement” (within natural physiological range) that takes a joint into a range that the patient cannot do themselves, often resulting in audible “pops”.

Whilst this might sound aggressive to some; manipulation is a very safe and beneficial treatment when performed by a highly trained professional. Choosing the right patient, the right problem and ruling out any reasons the technique may not be safe to perform is crucial to being effective and successful. You’ll find experienced and skilled therapist such as these on our team.

The benefits

  • Long and short-term effects.
  • Ideal as a first intervention to break damaging cycles.
  • Increased range of motion.
  • Increased blood circulation.
  • Immediate & lasting pain relief.

Is spinal manipulation right for you?

While manipulation is an amazing technique that can produce excellent results in a short period of time, it is not for all patients nor all problems. Screening out patients for whom it is inappropriate is of paramount importance. Severe vascular, bony and neurological pathology along with extreme pain, lack of clinical diagnosis and lack of consent are absolute contraindications to receiving the technique. For anyone else though, it’s our recommendation that we keep it on the table as a possible intervention.

So what can we treat with manipulation?

"Phil saved my golf season by treating my elbow. His care and concern for not only the elbow, but everything else that contributed to the issue, was highly effective. Dare I say I look forward to returning for the next musculoskeletal issue?! Yes!"

“For me, the most important part of my dealings with a medical practitioner is that the person listen and use my answers to assist in the treatment. After all it is MY body. The folks at Alliance get 5 stars in listening.”
